With shattered hearts, the family is announcing the untimely death of Gordon Ward Jackson, the youngest child of Allan G. and Beulah J. Jackson (nee Shaver), both deceased.  Gord passed one day short of his 57th birthday.

Gordon was born in Calgary, lived a few childhood years in Winnipeg, but spent most of his life in Edmonton and St. Albert.  He attended both Ross Sheppard High School and the University of Alberta.  He graduated with two degrees in 1987.  After working in an executive position with Emco Ltd. for close to two decades, he left to establish Jackstay Developments in 2003.  Gordon loved his family, his friends, the outdoors, and many sports, particularly fishing and football.

In 1992 Gord married his high school sweetheart, Leah Kongsrude, and they enjoyed 20 years together before divorcing in 2012.  Gord leaves behind two children from that marriage, Halle Aerin of North Vancouver and Rykkar Soren of St. Albert.  Also left to grieve his passing are 3 siblings and their families—Audrey (Dave Blyth), Arlene, and Ron (Angela).

Gord’s happy place was the cabin in the Totem Pole Resort on Shuswap Lake.  In 2013, while at the cabin, he met another person who soon became a very close friend, Amanda Ronai of San Francisco, and her daughter Ellie.  Much travelling was involved!  They gave light to his life for the past 7 years.

We appreciate all the attentive medical care Gord received from so many people, both at the Shuswap Lake Regional Hospital and in the Edmonton University Hospital.   We thank you all.  Gordon will always stay in our hearts.  People die, but love never does.  We pray that he has found some peace at last.

There will be a small memorial service at Westlawn Funeral Home, 16310 Stony Plain Road, Edmonton, on Monday, August 24, 2020 at 2:00 pm.
