Feb 4, 1928 – Apr 30, 2023

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, J. Arthur Jones, passed from this world just as he had lived his life – peacefully and with great dignity - with loving family at his side.

Art is survived by his devoted wife of 71 years, Jennie; his children Alan (Kathy) Jones, Brenda (Dennis) Hanson, Barb Courtney, Larry (Gwen) Jones and Shelley (Ray) Guidinger; his beloved grandchildren, Heather (Trevor), Lisa (Jon), Sarah (Kyle), Jeff (Teresa), Darren, Breanna, Robb, Taylor (Hanson), Kaitlin, Carla (Matt) and Brent (Kristy) and 12 great-grandchildren.  Art also had the good fortune of extended family including 7 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Art was born in Lloydminster where his family had settled as Barr Colonists in 1903.  He married Jennie Johansen in 1951.  After the birth of their five children, the family transferred to Edmonton.  In 1975, Art and Jennie purchased an acreage near Onoway where they lived for 40 years, entertaining countless family and friends on so many occasions.  They relocated to St. Albert in 2015.

Art’s career of choice was in real estate; he retired in 1993 as Executive Vice President of the Edmonton Real Estate Board.

Service to others, especially the less fortunate, was a high priority.  Art was past National President and a Life Member of Kinsmen, a Canadian Centennial Medal recipient, past Grand Master of Masons, Grand Lodge of Alberta, a member of Patricia Lodge #91 and the Al Shamal Shriners Club.

As a father, Art passed on the values of integrity, respect, and responsibility – often underpinned by his trademark humour - and his children and extended family feel honoured and proud to have had such a leader in their lives.  Apart from being the Jones patriarch, Art was a loyal friend to many - a good listener who took a genuine interest in people and was kind and welcoming to all.

A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Albert Alliance Church, 200 Villeneuve Road.    To send condolences, please visit, www.pointewestfuneral.com
