It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Ken on February 6, 2024 at the age of 80 after a short battle with cancer.

Forever grateful to have shared his life journey is his loving wife Sandy of 58 years. Ken will be lovingly remembered by his four children Don (Krista), Kris (Gloria), Kendra (Gerry), Cam (Sarah) as well as 9 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and extended family. Ken was born and raised in Edmonton to Wes and Iris Knutson on November 23, 1943. He spent most of his summers in Jasper visiting grandparents. After high school, Ken moved to Jasper where he met the love of his life while working at Robinson’s Grocery store. They were married in Jasper on December 11, 1965.

Ken had a love of history, wood working, camping and spending time with his family, always with a coffee in hand. He enjoyed cooking for the many family gatherings, and trifle was always requested for special occasions. Ken never missed an opportunity to help family with home projects. His family meant everything to him.

Having a great interest in trains and the history of the railroad, Ken volunteered for several years at the Alberta Railway Museum. He also loved to work with wood and built beautiful furniture for the home and family. Ken and Sandy enjoyed holidays in their RV, camping at various Alberta campgrounds, and making several trips up the Alaska Highway to the Yukon to visit family.

Being a long-time member of Sturgeon Valley Baptist Church, he served in various positions over the years and made lifelong friends. Ken will always be remembered for his kindness, generosity of spirit, love of family, and his deep faith in God. Ken will be deeply missed by those who loved him.

Cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

We are grateful for the kindness and care of family, friends, doctors, nurses and the Connelly-McKinley Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
