1923 – 2022
Jim passed away peacefully in his sleep on his 99th birthday, March 3, 2022 at the Westlock Continuing Care Centre.
He is survived by his children, Rod (Jeanne), Sheryl (Lee), Kathy (Maurice), Greg (Sue); as well as eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife Joyce of 66 years, in 2017.
Jim was born and raised on the original Kyle farm homestead in the Alcomdale area. After marrying Joyce Whitson “the girl across the fence” in 1951, he farmed first with his father and brother Don, and then his son Greg until his mid-80's. Jim and Joyce enjoyed travelling, particularly horse-back riding in the mountains, many bus trips in Canada and USA, vacation travels overseas, and were always up for a new destination.
Special memories of Dad include his meticulous record keeping, including the invoice of the first tractor he purchased, the bills and costs to build their only house, the day each spring the creek started to run and the first day of seeding each year.
Cremation has taken place; a Private Celebration will be held at a later date.
The family is sincerely grateful to the staff at the Westlock Continuing Care Centre for their care and compassion for Dad over the past two years.
