With hearts full of treasured memories, the Grey Nuns wish to announce the passing of Sister Marguerite Laforce of Youville Auxiliary Hospital (Youville Home), St. Albert on August 5, 2021 at the age of 92. Sister was born in Legal, Alberta on October 16, 1928. She joined the Grey Nuns in St. Albert on August 5, 1948. In 1949, she pronounced her first vows; and in 1956 she made her perpetual vows in Montreal. She attended university to obtain her teaching degree. Her first teaching assignment was in her hometown: Legal, then later at St. Catherine’s School in Edmonton. Her third assignment was in St. Albert for a total of twenty-two years as a teacher. She obtained her Master in Education and a degree in Counselling, also studies in Theology and Catechetics. In 1977, she was named Provincial councillor and secretary, then in 1983, Provincial superior. During that period, she made three trips to Zaire, Africa where Grey Nuns were missionaries. In 1986 she was elected General Councillor and Secretary in Montreal for five years. She also served as local leader in Saskatoon, Sask. She was renamed Provincial secretary and councillor for a second term in 1995. Her last years were spent teaching English to new Canadians. In 2010, she retired and came to live at Youville Home. But having suffered a stroke in 2016, she spent the next five years in Long Term Care.

She leaves to mourn her Grey Nuns Sisters, many nephews and nieces and friends. Reverend Ed Kosa, OMI will celebrate a Funeral Mass at 1:30 pm on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 with visitation one hour prior to Mass at Connelly-McKinley Funeral Chapel, 9 Muir Drive, St. Albert, AB. Interment to follow at St. Albert Catholic Cemetery.

The Grey Nuns with to thank the staff at Youville Home, Unit 4 who cared for Sister Marguerite. To honor Sister Marguerite, donations to Covenant Health Youville Home,   9 St. Vital Ave., St. Albert would be appreciated.
