March 13, 1930 – February 5, 2024

It is with deep sorrow that we share the peaceful passing of Dorothy Verna Leachman (Donnelly) on February 6, 2024, just 5 weeks short of her 94th birthday.  Dorothy leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter, survived by her son Roger (Kathy), daughter Marilyn, beloved grandchildren Kristin (Will), Jennifer (Mark), Christopher, Michelle (Cristian) and two much loved great grand children Aurora and Cataleya.   She is also survived by two sisters, Jean Wilson and June St. Arnaud as well as many nieces and nephews and a legion of friends and relatives she valued greatly.

Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Arnold (Nick) in August 2007, mother Alvina and father Roger as well as her sister Nora and brother Norman.

Dorothy was born in Westlock on March 13, 1930, and grew up in Clyde Alberta on a farm where she had a great life and learned to play ball, ride horses and drive at a very young age. She met the love of her life Arnold at a Saturday night dance at the Clyde Hall. She married Arnold in November 1953 and moved to Edmonton where she remained happily married until Arnold passed in August 2007. She was the proverbial homemaker, wife and mother, great cook and our happy house was always open for company and Friday night poker games.   Dorothy moved from the family home to Chartwell St. Albert in May, 2015.She enjoyed life at Chartwell and was a regular card player with her many friends.

Cremation has taken place at Trinity Funeral Home and a Celebration of Life will be held in St. Albert in the spring. Please contact Roger Leachman at the following email for details if you would like to attend the memorial, [email protected]   In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
