1936 – 2024

Charles Arnold Moon of St. Albert, AB, passed away from pancreatic cancer at the age of 87 on Tuesday, January 9, 2024.

Arnold was born in April 1936, to Elizabeth (nee Willetts) and Frederick Moon in Grande Prairie, AB. He was the oldest of four children. Arnold spent his formative years growing up at ‘The Mill’ and ‘The Farm’ in the Bezanson area, learning the values of hard work and family.

Arnold was a devoted husband to Alice (nee Haugli), and a generous and supportive father to his three children, Michele (Dan Sander) Moon, Kim (Scott Fafard) Moon, and Ron (Kerri) Moon.  He said the saddest part of leaving would be not seeing the life path of his six amazing grandsons: Kean Moon, Finn Fafard, Thomas Sander, Thane Fafard, Caiden Moon, and Joseph Sander.

He will be fondly remembered by his brother, Alan (Geri) Moon, sister, Helen Moon; his sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Arnold was predeceased by both his parents; his brother, Jerry Moon; his in-laws, Ole and Judith Haugli; and his brothers-in-law, Ken Haugli and Ted Halwa.

In 1992, Arnold retired from R. Angus (Finning) after 36 years and then spent several years selling cars in Edmonton.

Arnold had a gift for connecting with people, and his warmth was always felt. His devotion to family was unmatched. He adored his grandsons and prioritized attending their games, concerts, and major milestones. His love language was a good-natured teasing, and all appreciated his sense of humour. He had a wonderful way of calming any situation with his ‘wait to worry’ attitude.

There will be a Funeral Service for Arnold at St. Albert Evangelical Church (11 Glenview Crescent, St. Albert, AB T8N 1B7) on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at 2:00 p.m.

The family would like to thank all the nurses and staff in Unit 18 at the Sturgeon Community Hospital for their care.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society (cancer.ca) or the Sturgeon Community Hospital Foundation (sturgeongeneralhospitalfoundation.org).
