JULY 20, 1934 – FEB 20, 2022
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved Mother, Mother-In-Law, Baba, Great-Baba, Aunt, Sister-In-Law and a true friend of several hundred others, on Sunday, February 20th, 2022 at the Sturgeon Hospital in St. Albert.
Leaving to mourn are her three sons; Ross, Bruce (Carmen), Gary (Nicole); Seven Grandchildren Jacqueline (Kyle), David (Loretta), Darrell (Lindsay), Jennifer (Mike), Bryce, Leah and Nicholas; Six Great-Grandchildren Emil, Ava, Sawyer, Steven, Kaylee and Darwin, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their extended families; Two Sister-in-laws Vera Soroka, and Lillian Hiscock (Cec); Also, Mom's coffee-buddies, who include but are not limited to Kathy, Lucille, Ginette, Darlene and all the members of those she fondly referred to as "The Gladstone Girls" as well as an abundance of friends far too numerous to mention but were very special.
Mom was predeceased by her loving husband, Nick Muzichuk, her parents Mike & Annie Yaremcio, her Father-In-Law and Mother-In-Law Peter & Praksa Muzichuk, Sister-In-Law Ann Bilowus, Brother-In-Law Paul Muzichuk, Brother-In-Law Bill Bilowus and Brother-In-Law Terenty Soroka.
All those who were blessed to have known our mother, would agree that she possessed the gentlest spirit and the kindest of souls. Mom's welcoming smile could brighten the darkest of rooms and warm the coldest of hearts. Mom loved life and she lived it to the fullest. She loved to play card-games especially crib. Whether it was card-games, board-games, ladder-golf or lawn-darts, all one had to do was ask and she was a willing participant! Besides her being the epitome of generosity, Mom was dedicated to any cause that she believed in; she always gave selflessly, and she was always willing to help, even if you didn't ask. Mom had more hobbies and talents than you could imagine; She did not have time to be bored. Without any exaggeration, Mom had twice the energy of people half of her age. The Energizer Bunny could have learnt a thing or two from her! Mom was an avid fisherwoman who enjoyed "frying 'em up" as much as she enjoyed "reeling 'em in"! Mom loved her backyard friends of birds, rabbits, and squirrels, ensuring that they had clean drinking water and that they were well-fed at all times.
Mom was especially fond of "Gardening", always sharing most of her produce when "Harvest Time" rolled around. When Mom was entertaining, rest assured, no one ever left feeling hungry. Although Mom specialized in Ukrainian food creations, she was no stranger to the creation of other ethnic cuisines. Her competence and organizational skills in the kitchen were born in the fact that she loved to serve others, which she believed was the "Greater Purpose". Her expertise in this regard led her into owning two Burger Bars, and becoming the best at her trade at the Klondike Inn and two Golf Course kitchens in the St. Albert area. The benefactors of Mom's traits, qualities and generous heart were all those that were in her company, but especially those of her husband of sixty-eight years and her three sons who would give everything they own today if they could just have one more meal with her. Our Mother will be sadly missed; however, we have a lifetime of memories to cherish and to help carry us through this difficult time. Mom, please know that we love you with all our hearts & more and we will miss you forever and beyond!
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, March 7th, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at the Boyle Community Centre in Boyle, Alberta. Interment followed at the Monticello Russo Greek Orthodox Cemetery in Boyle, Alberta.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial donation in Mom's honour to the St. Albert Botanical gardens, where Mom gave unselfishly of herself and her time, volunteering for many years. All money raised will go to having a plaque made in Memory of Kay Muzichuk and to help with the construction of a "Memorial Path" that has been spearheaded by the Botanical Garden Society of St. Albert.
