June 15, 1940 to December 11, 2023 ( Age 83)
On December 11, 2023 Margery Ellen Pennington (nee Wood) of St. Albert, Alberta passed away at the age of 83 years.
Margery will be lovingly remembered by her first born son Kevin Pennington and four grandsons: Ryan Passmore (Amanda), Tyler Pennington,Terran (TJ) Pennington and Darren Pennington Jr; as well as nephew Jim Wood (Sue) and family of Calgary, Alberta. Margery will also be lovingly remembered by her brother Gary Wood (Carol) of Westlock, Alberta.
Margery was predeceased by two sons Murray and Darren Pennington; her husband William Ross Pennington; nephew Ken Wood; as well as her father (James) and mother (Margaret) Wood of Westlock, Alberta.
Margery was born in Edmonton, Alberta and grew up on the family farm near Busby, Alberta. She was married to Ross Pennington on April 22nd, 1961 at the Busby United Church. With Ross she raised 3 boys from the family home in St. Albert, Alberta. She loved being a mom and taking care of the Pennington Boys.
In addition Margery spent countless hours volunteering at the St. Albert United Church, St. Albert Food Bank, and was well known amongst the Seniors in the St. Albert area.
Margery enjoyed many years of lake life at the Family Cabin at Baptiste Lake and in later years she and Ross would travel and camp in various locations throughout Alberta and British Columbia. She loved being outdoors amongst the birds and butterflies!
Family was most important to Margery; Holidays, dinners, and family gatherings were what she loved the most. Margery was passionate about arts and crafts, knitting, quilting, etc. and most importantly enjoying the company of the many unique individuals she encountered throughout her lifetime.
Margery will be deeply missed by immediate family and relatives as well as her many life long acquaintances and friendships that she made along the way.
Cremation has taken place and there will be a family memorial service to honour both Margery and Ross Pennington at Hazel Bluff Alberta in the Summer of 2024.
