James (Jim) Patrick Redmond, 87, of St. Albert passed away peacefully at the Sturgeon Community Hospital on January 6, 2024 surrounded by his family after a lengthy illness.

Jim was born on June 5, 1936 to Jim and Margret Redmond in St. John’s, NF. Jim’s father died at a young age and from the age of 11 he had to work to support his family. The hardship faced in his youth fostered a strong work ethic and commitment to community service. Jim worked as an accountant and managed many successful businesses until his retirement. Over the years Jim served on many community boards and 4th degree Knights of Columbus.

Jim is survived by his wife of 59 years, Bernadette Redmond (nee Miskell). In their early years Jim and Bernadette travelled the world with Jim’s work and had many adventures. They loved to go to dances where they showed off their jiving skills. Later on they would enjoy many Friday date nights often with the kids in tow.  When the kids were older Jim and Bernadette would take them on new adventures every summer to Siesta Dunes in Sarasota Florida which holds a special place in their hearts.

Jim was predeceased by his father, mother and his only sister, Mary. He is survived by his wife Bernadette; his children, Tanya (Paul), Jay (Lianne) and Justin (Natalie); and grandchildren, Meaghan, Sophie, Ethan, Levi, Chloe and Cali. He is fondly remembered by his nephew, John Sides, in El Paso, Texas and his extended family in Newfoundland.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 19, 2024 in Holy Family Catholic Parish.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Edmonton Humane Society. Jim had pets all his life and treasured his time with them and leaves behind Archie, his French Bulldog.
