1927-2023

It is with profound sadness that the family of Clare Scott announces her passing on Friday, February 17, 2023.  Clare lived an amazing 95 ½ years, taking advantage of every opportunity for new adventures, travels to faraway places, downhill skiing, yoga, bridge, and laughter and good times with her friends and family.

Since growing up on a farm in High River, Alberta, Clare started her adult life in Calgary, moving to Los Angeles, California, to start her family before returning and residing in Taber and Lethbridge.  Clare moved to Edmonton to attend university for her teaching degree, returning to Calgary for several years before finally moving to St. Albert where she spent the remainder of her life.

Clare took advantage of every opportunity that was presented to her.  She spent a year’s sabbatical for her Master’s degree at the University of Hawaii, a prize won at the St. Albert Expo was spent on a trip to Australia.  Membership in Friendship Force resulted in many opportunities to travel the world and develop friendships in places seldom visited:  Burundi, Rwanda, Brazil, Columbia, Peru, China, and Japan, as well as places more frequently visited:  Ireland, Scotland, Denmark, Germany, France, Mexico, and New Zealand.

An avid skier up to the age of 83, Clare was instrumental in forming the Edmonton branch of the Senior’s Ski club, taking advantage of group ski trips (and parties) to resorts in BC and Alberta.  Clare also made memories with her two grandchildren, taking them individually to Disneyland as a special time with “grandma and me”.

Clare has made many close friends throughout her adventures.  If there was a party or activity, Clare made sure that it was added to her calendar, which was packed every day of the week.

She is survived by her daughter Lory (Noel); two grandchildren, Stephen and Shelby; and Julian, her lifelong friend and companion; in addition to many other friends, Myra, Marion, Suzanne, and Dorel to name a few. Clare is predeceased by her brother Everett (Greta); and parents, Eunice and Horace Pryor.

To celebrate a great life, a Funeral Service will be held at the St. Albert United Church on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation prior at 10:30 a.m., followed by a celebratory lunch.

We would like to thank the health care workers that took care of Mom over the past three years, through her health journeys and COVID.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Clare’s memory are appreciated to the charity of your choice.
