It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of our beloved Oma, mother,

and wife, Anna (Zemmel) Tesar, at the age of 94 years.

Anna will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 65 years, Tony; her daughter, Betty (Coyne); son-in-law, Patrick; granddaughters, Lisa and Shannon; as well as many extended family members. She was predeceased by her brother (Matthias) and sisters (Theresia and Marie) in Germany.

Anna was born and raised in a small Hungarian farming town with her sisters and brother where

their life centered around the farm, church, community celebrations, and music. Sadly, the

challenges of war-torn Europe forced Anna’s family to relocate to Germany when she was

nineteen. Anna then worked in West Germany until bravely asserting her independence and

moving to Canada in 1953.

After meeting Tony in Edmonton and marrying in 1955, Anna took on a variety of jobs in the

area until finding a fulfilling role at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Food Services.

Anna adored being a mother, providing for her family, and was happiest when making something special for the people she loved. After retirement, Anna spent many days baking and creating with her cherished granddaughters. Anna’s generosity, kindness, and smile characterized every aspect of her life.

Despite her Alzheimer’s diagnosis, Anna continued to enjoy crocheting, baking, and music each

day. The family wishes to send a special thank you to Anna’s in-home caregivers, who provided

so much love and support during her final years.

A funeral service will be held at Park Memorial, 9709 – 111 Avenue, Edmonton at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, October 27, 2021. Proof of Vaccinations (along with valid ID), or proof of a negative rapid COVID test within 72 hours of entry is required.

A short “Kaffee and Kuchen” (coffee and cake) reception in the adjoining hall will follow the

service after which a private family interment will occur at St. Michael’s Cemetery. In lieu of

flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories or to a charity of one’s choice.
