It is with great sorrow that the family of Marj Thomson, announce her passing on January 21, 2024, at the age of 91. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 68 years, Jim, on March 30, 2023 and her brother Robert (Bob) Cordingley in 2020. She is survived by her three children, sons Glenn (Karen), Bruce (Helena) and daughter Jean (Lydia), 12 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and her sister Joan Harrower.
Marj had boundless energy and enjoyed spending time with her family and her large circle of cherished friends. She kept busy with many hobbies including quilting, golfing and curling. Marj, Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma, Sister and friend; she will be sorely missed, but will always be fondly remembered.
Marj’s family are extremely grateful for the wonderful and compassionate care she received from the nurses, aides and staff at the Kipnes Centre for Veterans, and in particular wish to thank the staff, residents and volunteers in Saskatchewan house. The generous kindness shown to Marj and the rest of the family was so appreciated as a special gift at a most difficult time.
A funeral service will be held at Highlands United Church, 11305-64 St NW, Edmonton on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at 1:30pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Marj’s name to the Parkinson Association of Alberta.
