Maxine - December 7th, 2009 001

(Nee Craig)

After a long battle with Alzheimer’s, Maxine left us and went into the presence of her Lord, on December 15, and is now free and rejoicing with her Saviour Jesus Christ in heaven.  She was born in Unity, SK on September 8, 1932, to Monty and Barbara Craig, and the first of five siblings.  She will be sadly missed by her husband of 53 years, Keith Thomson, and children, Douglas, Linea (Timothy), Craig (Kathleen), and Carolyn (Ricky), plus 8 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Maxine came to Edmonton for nurses training and graduated from the Royal Alex School of Nursing on April 14, 1954.  After Bible College in Regina, she went as a missionary nurse to Viet Nam, where she ministered for 5 ½ years.  Upon returning to Canada, and after a long distant courtship, she and Keith were married on April 15, 1967.

Maxine was a loving wife, partner, mother, homemaker, and friend to many.  She was active in her church, Alliance Women, the Gideon’s, a bible study which was responsible for the beginning of the Edmonton Vietnamese Alliance Church, and International Student Ministries Canada.

Additional information is available on the Trinity Funeral Home website, who are responsible for internment arrangements.

For those wanting to honour Maxine, contribute to the charity of your choice, in her name, the Alzheimer’s Association, or the Gideon’s/ShareWord international.

As a family, we are very grateful to the staff and sisters at the Youville Nursing Home for their good care of our wife and mother and extend our heartfelt thanks.
