It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Peter Zuidema, of St. Albert, Alberta, on March 17, 2021.  Peter exemplified determination, and a strong will to live life with quick witted humor for 81 years.

At the age of 18, Peter immigrated to Canada in 1957 with his sister, Nieske and his brother-in-law, Wiep. Peter became a Canadian Citizen and showed his entrepreneurial spirit and determined nature as the original owner of Grandin Bakery then moving on to instruct baking at NAIT and spending years on the board for the Sturgeon School Division.

He was a hard-working husband, father and grandfather who loved spending time with his family, always surrounded by plenty of good food.  He enjoyed music and was an avid sports enthusiast and shared this joy with his children.

Peter is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ernestine; daughters, Liette (Ray) and Michelle (Graham); and son, Kevin (Darcy).  He was loved by his nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren with whom he shared his knowledge of cooking, sports and investing.
