LETTER: Public transit is a public service that helps many people

"If you want to scrap transit, take a second thought about it. Sometimes you do see a bus empty because you may be at the beginning of a route or the end of a route."

I’m asking everyone in the city: currently the buses are not full because people are scared and afraid to take public transit during this pandemic and I understand that, and I also hear the other side – let’s scrap transit. Why, I ask? But think about it – if it wasn’t for transit, most businesses would be short-staffed because there are staff in every single business in the city that rely on transit, and there are also people that don’t drive that rely on transit to get to doctors appointments, grocery shopping, work, and/or to have a social life. So I’m asking people: if you want to scrap transit, take a second thought about it. Sometimes you do see a bus empty because you may be at the beginning of a route or the end of a route.

This is coming from an avid transit user and I don’t want to see our beautiful city without public transit the way it is right now.
