LETTER: Solutions to help keep our schools safe

"It is impossible to have social distancing with a class of over 25 students."
letter-sta

It is impossible to have social distancing with a class of over 25 students.

Solution: Divide class in two. Have a morning class, 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., and an afternoon class 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Teach math, language arts and alternating social/science. Leave physical education, computer learning and other subjects for the home. Will be increased transportation and some additional funds for teachers. This would be teachable in elementary and junior high.

Have every Monday off. There is usually one stat Monday a month. That leaves three Mondays left. Use them for staff meetings and any extra time teachers need. That way teachers will not have to be compensated more. There is no extra planning required. Same class. Taught twice a day but divided. Same lesson plans.
