Buried lines mean higher bills

With regard to the article, ‘Power debate surges,’ Nov. 28 Gazette, and the potential for adverse effects from living near new transmission lines, I did not realize that extra lines were a ‘done deal.

Homeowners across the province are upgrading and renovating — both to conserve power and energy — and get the tax credits only to learn they will be paying much more on future bills, especially if the lines are buried. If the reports of existing supplies of electricity are more than adequate for Albertans, I strongly suspect the extra power will go from Fort McMurray to Las Vegas, greased by the timely passage of Bill 50. This action by the PC government is dishonest and disingenuous.

It redefines the meaning of ‘free enterprise.’ Sadly, we got the government we deserved.
