City's blue bag stance makes little sense

Today was the first day that my bag of recycling was not picked up. The reason: the bag was not blue. I have a number of clear, plastic bags, which are the same size as the blue bags that I have been reusing to gather my recycled goods.

I have a number of clear, plastic bags, which are the same size as the blue bags that I have been reusing to gather my recycled goods. Rather than being forced to buy blue bags, I am doing a little extra to minimize what is being thrown out by reusing what I already have. The clear bags cannot, apparently, be recycled as they are not the correct type of plastic.

My question to the city and the recycling company is this: seeing how plastic bags are not acceptable for recycling in St. Albert anyway, what are you doing with the blue bags? If they are being thrown out, does it make any difference what colour the bag is as long as it is clear?
