The Canadian government seems intent on destroying the credibility and possibly the career of Foreign Affairs official Richard Colvin.
Has Peter MacKay forgotten that Colvin is a member of his party? And as for Mackay stating, “Not a single Taliban prisoner turned over by Canadian Forces can be proven to have been abused,” if that is the case and there is indeed no evidence, why were procedures for handing over prisoners changed?
Canadian officials had fears of torture due in part to Colvin’s reports, but now MacKay says Colvin has been duped by the Taliban? If Colvin is so darn unreliable, why is he trusted to hold a position in the Canadian embassy in Washington? Did the government truly appoint a “dupe” to such an important post?
