I’ve recently had a surgical operation at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton and would like to extend a bouquet to the professional and support staff in the day surgery unit there. The care and treatment I received couldn’t have been better.
I’ve been lobbying for the introduction and retention of public health care in Canada for over half a century. My experience at the hospital served to reinforce my conviction that public health care is the most efficient and cost effective way to provide health care. Despite a few shortfalls, Canadians should be truly grateful for having access to such a system.
We need to be constantly vigilant to ensure that it is not diluted or destroyed by the lobbying efforts of private health care insurance and pharmaceutical corporations and their lackeys.
