I had difficulty in taking the letter written by Karen Paquette, “Market not family friendly” seriously!

I am sorry that your son is allergic to the sun, to the air and to nuts, but it is your job as a parent to make sure that he is protected from these things, not the job of the city or the vendors at the market.

The outdoor market is a highlight of our short summer here. There are hundreds of residents who take advantage of this wonderful market every week.

For you to suggest that it should be indoors and that it be nut free is laughable. Nuts are an important part of a vegetarian diet. Our winters are long and we spend so much of that time indoors. In the summer we want to be outside!

I suggest you come to the market only on dull days and keep a close eye so that your child does not eat anything without your permission.
