“There is a place for heat pumps in the prairie market, they are great products.” Says Crouse, acknowledging the doubt some may have for the products, “I have really come around to their place in our market. In retrofit applications, we recommend a dual-fuel or hybrid air source heat pump solution for most scenarios if someone is looking at air conditioning and replacing their existing gas furnace. These retrofits often have challenges but there are always solutions available. Personally, I am exploring heat pump hot water tank and heat pump clothes dryer options for my home and will likely upgrade my AC to a heat pump in the near future, as well. We want to be leaders in the heat pump market and be innovators in how our technicians solve comfort problems. Retrofit solutions to St. Albert’s homes can be unique and our climate is challenging, but we like that. There are some really great products coming on to the market that are eligible for the $5000 Canada Greener Homes Grant for Cold Climate Heat Pumps that really move the needle on affordability. While this program is on hold and we await the next one to come to fruition, excitement remains high on the innovation that continues to happen in the world of home comfort.”
