Glasshouse Kitchen│Bar Re-Opens October 9

Among the many sights, sounds, and tastes to experience in the Enjoy Centre is an old favorite with a new name: Glasshouse Kitchen│Bar.

St. Albert’s Enjoy Center is an iconic part of the city’s identity, and Glasshouse Kitchen|Bar is one of the reasons people love to visit. After perusing the markets, pop up shops, and garden centre, what is better than relaxing with a great meal and a spectacular view? Using only the finest locally-sourced, seasonal and organic ingredients, and overlooking Big Lake, Glasshouse Kitchen|Bar is the perfect place to meet with friends or enjoy a romantic date.

“The original Glasshouse Bistro opened in 2010,” Shannon Butler, Passionate Hospitality Group, says. “After closing on March 15 due to COVID-19 and a change in ownership, the new owners have now reopened the restaurant. Glasshouse Kitchen|Bar opened the cafe on September 23, and fully opened daytime and evening menu service October 2nd, 2020.”

The official grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony take place on October 9 at 3:30 pm. SYC Brewing will be providing a beer tasting that evening in the lounge.

“Although this is technically a re-opening, we have rebranded Glasshouse Bistro into Glasshouse Kitchen|Bar. We are beyond excited to share our new look, newly designed space, and an incredible menu,” shares Shannon, before adding, “Julia Kundera (executive chef) is back!”

She continues, “We are so fortunate in these challenging times to have a generously sized cafe, dining room, and newly designed lounge to provide our guests with the space to fully embrace a truly memorable dining experience in comfort.”

Old favourites and new things to try are on the menu.

“Our menu is locally sourced and seasonally influenced to inspire new creations regularly,” smiles Shannon. “Patrons are encouraged to pop in regularly as these specials are guaranteed to be crowd pleasers… socially distanced crowd pleasers!  Our newly designed lounge is the perfect after work spot to unwind, take in the breathtaking views, or perhaps the game. On feature nights there will be live music.”

So, what’s on the menu?

“Our menu is carefully crafted to include vegan (spiced crispy cauliflower with cashew hummus, green smashed salsa and turmeric pilau), vegetarian (in-house made gnocchi with roasted red peppers, squash, spinach, halloumi, basil pesto and crispy kale), and celiac friendly (twice cooked pork belly with potato hash, cherry sauce and chargrilled broccolini) choices. No menu would be complete without daily feature soups, a variety of mouth watering salads, sandwiches, small plates, and sharables.”

The staff recently did a tasting of every dish and while it was hard to pick a favourite (unless all the dishes can count as “a favourite”) standouts included the spiced crispy cauliflower, salmon with herb risotto cake, and the savoury smoked chicken pot pie – choices Shannon calls, “comfort food at its finest.”

Frequent guests of Glasshouse Kitchen|Bar know that the Sunday brunch is a must-have. The restaurant is pleased to bring back brunch by reservation as of October 18.
