On Monday, the province reported 70 new cases of people contracting COVID-19, and nine more deaths – four of which happened in the last 24 hours. 2,943 people have now recovered from the virus, roughly half the number of people who have been diagnosed.

Shandro said the province will use a careful, phased approach to bring back the surgeries, and will give priority to patients who are at a greater risk if their surgeries are delayed further.

On Saturday, the province stated 2,534 people have now recovered.

"We all have to stick together and help each other, and that's what this is about, is being there together and ensuring that we help wherever we can."

Hinshaw said contact tracers are currently working hard behind the scenes doing COVID-19 detective work, asking patients everywhere they have been in the past several days and who they were near.
