A St. Albert business was named one of Canada’s top 100 small and medium sized employers. Progressive Home Warranty Solutions is located in Campbell Business Park. The company partners with builders to provide warranties for new homes. It was, among other things, awarded for its flexible work times and family atmosphere.
Employers are evaluated by the editors of Canada’s Top 100 Employers magazine as published in The Globe and Mail. The national competition determines which employers lead their industries in offering exceptional workplaces.
Perks can include everything from flexible work options, offering profit-sharing programs or generous top-up payments for maternal or parental leave. Another regional company awarded this year was the Rohit Group of Companies. The business won the award for the second year in a row.
Off the Hook Laser and Spa recently won a 2015 Edmonton Top Choice Award in the category of top spa. The annual awards are presented after the public votes for their favourite business, professionals and media online.
Off the Hook is the only business from St. Albert that won an award in the Edmonton region. The spa provides everything from hair removals, to eyelash extensions, spas and massages. It’s located at 30 Green Grove Drive.
Despite a sign out front that says the building is for sale, the economic development department in St. Albert is not moving.
Executive director Guy Boston said the department’s lease is good for another eight years. If whoever buys the building decides to kick the department out, the lease would look after the appropriate compensations, he said. “But we do not foresee that to happen,” he said.
