Michael Cooper will be the Conservative Party of Canada’s candidate for MP in the St. Albert-Edmonton riding during the next federal election.
He was selected as the candidate after a nomination vote on Saturday. He ran against Ryan Hastman.
Cooper, 30, is a lawyer and a lifelong St. Albert resident. His nomination campaign started last fall and drew endorsements from several well-known politicians.
Cooper will compete for the conservative vote with independent MP Brent Rathgeber. Rathgeber left the Conservative Party in June 2013 and plans to run independently.
The next federal election is expected to be in fall 2015.
