B.C. police continue to sift through clues this week as they search for a missing St. Albert boater.
West Kelowna RCMP reported last week that St. Albert resident Brian Daryl Lakevold, 64, had gone missing on Okanagan Lake in B.C.
Lakevold’s boat, a maroon and white Malibu LXI, was found on the lake last Aug. 26. A local couple operating their boat on the lake that evening found the Malibu when they collided with it. The boat was unoccupied, had no lights on and appeared to be adrift. The couple was uninjured in the collision, and damage to the boats was minimal.
Investigation of the boat revealed some of Lakevold’s personal effects and the keys for the boat. Police later confirmed with Lakevold’s family that he was missing.
Kelowna RCMP are still searching the west Kelowna side of Okanagan Lake as of Tuesday morning and don’t plan to stop until they find Lakevold, said Cst. Kelly Brett.
“That’s our goal. We want to find him.”
Police are now following up on tips from the public about Lakevold’s whereabouts, Brett said.
“We’re looking for any information, if any other boaters on the shore on the lake had seen Mr. Lakevold,” she said, particularly between 2:30 p.m. and 9:17 p.m. on Aug. 26 (when his boat was found).
