RCMP are still investigating leads into the disappearance of Jacqueline Leavins.

Leavins was last seen Oct. 22 at the Provincial Building in St. Albert.

RCMP put out a call for the public’s help to locate her on Nov. 7.

They received a phone call from a person identifying themselves as Leavins last Sunday, but police have not been able to physically locate her or confirm she is OK.

The 36-year-old, originally from Saskatchewan, moved to Alberta a year and a half ago.

She had been living in a condo in St. Albert for the past six months. She knew few people in the city, but also had affiliations in Edmonton.

The last time friends and family were in contact with Leavins was the first week of October.

She has a five-month-old baby. Family members believe she may currently be pregnant.

They say it is unlike her to just disappear.

“We’ve always been in some sort of contact,” says Leavins’ sister Shannon Lepey from her home in Beaverdell, B.C., east of Penticton.

“For her to just drop off like this … she’s done it with plenty of other people in her past, but she’s always had contact with me.”

Friends and family say she was trying to turn her life around after a long history of substance abuse.

She was attending counselling, looking for work and planned on checking herself into rehab – making her disappearance even more concerning. They are afraid for her safety.

“I miss her. I really miss her,” says a friend of Leavins, who wishes to remain anonymous.

Leavins, known as “Jacquie” and “Jax” to close friends and family, was an athlete in her teens – a figure skater and member of the women’s fast-pitch team. She was a talented piano player, loves to read and is incredibly intelligent.

Loved ones describe her as beautiful, fun, bubbly and adventurous. She had a good heart and a soft spot for animals, especially kittens.

She brightened the room when she walked in. Her smile is infectious and her personality, simply vibrant.

“She makes friends with anybody. She’s just an amazing person,” says her close friend.

“You look at her smile and you can’t forget it,” adds Lepey.

The family has created a “Find Jacquie Leavins” Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/findjacquieleavins), in hopes new information of her whereabouts will be revealed.
