The St. Albert Sailfish dominated their home swim meet and won with an approximate 200-point lead.

Last weekend, the swimming squad hosted the region for their annual swim meet, which Coach Glenn Wilson said brought in 420 swimmers who competed in around 1,400 total swims.

“It was the largest swim meet of the year, both winter club and summer club,” Wilson said.

On top of dominating the weekend, Wilson said the event ran ahead of schedule.

“It was so well organized with the meet manager,” Wilson said.

The coach said the parents mobilized to clean the pool before the meet started so everything was in tip-top shape for the weekend.

Once the event wrapped up, the entire pool was cleaned and tidied within 38 minutes, Wilson said.

The St. Albert swimmers will be in Stony Plain this weekend competing in their outdoor pool. They will then head to Spruce Grove for another meet before regionals, which are held at the Kinsmen Pool in Edmonton in August.

Provincials are held the week after regional competition at the Kinsmen Pool in Edmonton.

The Impact 3 are slated to play their next game on Tuesday against the first place North West United 2 (14-0-1) at 8:15 p.m. at Riel Park.

The Cardinals played 13 games this season, racking up six wins, six losses and one tie. They have totaled 57 runs for and 65 runs against.

The Red Lions have won eight of their 13 games this season, dropped four games and have earned one tie game.
