Arlington decision shows council's true character

I was very disappointed to hear that the entire city council spent $25,000 on pretending to listen to the concerns of the residents of Akinsdale (at least I hope you were pretending and not dismissing).

It has been made quite clear that this is not about helping people but about the school board, Apollo, Habitat and the City of St. Albert making money on a property that although not listed as reserve land was treated as such. It is also abundantly clear that the residents would have welcomed a maximum of 28 units; the city and Habitat/Apollo will not be happy with less than 28.

Of the two focus groups, how many people came forward asking for more than 28 units? Your actions have spoken volumes towards your character. You claim to hear what your constituents have to say but then ignore them and do what benefits you the most. Worst of all, you made me believe that you cared about what your constituents thought. It would not surprise me if you tried to put in a 20-storey apartment complex if it benefitted you. I will be trying my hardest come election time this October to show the residents of St. Albert that none of you care what the people who elected you think. I may be only one voice but maybe others will join.
