City is full of money pits

Yes, I now realize that St. Albert is the money pit capital of Canada, confirmed after reading the Gazette editorial comment. For not only do we have the amazing Riel playing fields, but the ever present Servus Credit Union Place.

Yes, I now realize that St. Albert is the money pit capital of Canada, confirmed after reading the Gazette editorial comment. For not only do we have the amazing Riel playing fields, but the ever present Servus Credit Union Place. No matter how the balance sheet is disguised we continue pouring money in!

Further we have the ever growing numbers of staff at city hall — at what cost — who seem unable to come in with a reasonable, realistic budget prediction. Rather reminds you of that old joke — how many city administrators does it take to predict the bottom line?

Finally I think I can predict the next major new sinkhole that may turn into a pit — our city birthday celebrations! I notice that the person who started the ball rolling in this regard will not be there to see the project through.

So when we vote in the fall let’s perhaps have someone on council who will not be shocked and dismayed when they see how much money is being spent and actually use a little common sense before allowing administration to use what can only be a cloudy crystal ball instead of a calculator.
