Educating the public

letter-sta

In the Oct. 14, 2017, edition of the Gazette, Mayor Cathy Heron's profile said, and I quote: "I have ideas on how to build a beautiful prosperous forward-thinking City while still reducing our reliance on the regressive residential property tax model," plus much more of the same positive predictions, but I was appalled when I read in the Gazette of Dec. 7, 2019, on the front page, that she is ready to move on to the next step and rely on experts (Grant Thornton) the city contracted to draft a case for the MUC and cannot bend to political pressure when an overwhelming percentage of residents attending the public hearing on the matter expressed outright opposition or serious concerns about the proposal.

I have had serious concerns since the first day I heard the word MUC, and I agree with all the opposing Gazette letter writers about this project. Mayor Heron must have watched too many Trump twitters, and I think it is time for impeachment coming October 2021 when we vote again.
