Thank you, St. Albert, for installing the "light activated" crosswalks. It creates greater visibility for drivers and makes it safer for everyone crossing roadways. Though drivers may have to slow to 30 km/h when lights are flashing, believe me, you're not inconveniencing motorists by pressing the button – you are participating in creating safer roadways. By simply activating the flashing lights, you increase your visibility, giving drivers forewarning and a greater chance of stopping or slowing down. It is ALL road users' responsibility to maintain the safety of the transportation system.

Pedestrians, do your part, please press the light activation button if one is provided. It's your "responsibility" as a road user. It's greatly appreciated by the majority of drivers. Now with fall approaching, it is getting darker earlier and pedestrians are becoming more difficult to see, please help keep our roads safe by doing your part.

Go ahead, I challenge you to "PRESS" the button.

Roseanna Visser, St. Albert
