The proposed LRT route to St. Albert blazes northwards into the depths of north Edmonton then, almost as if by afterthought, the line spurs over to St. Albert.

This means that St. Albert LRT commuters will need to travel the long route through north Edmonton to reach various Edmonton locations and transfer points. Before a final decision is made on the LRT route from St. Albert into Edmonton, may I suggest that those on St. Albert city council involved with planning the LRT route look seriously at comparing travel times of the proposed LRT route vs. current StAT buses into Edmonton.

The St. Albert LRT route should be designed more as an express route to allow travellers to complete the trip to, say, downtown Edmonton, NAIT, MacEwan, or the U of A at least as quickly as the current express bus routes from St. Albert. Otherwise, there will be competing, redundant transit services out of St. Albert, higher taxes and a resulting white elephant.
