Mixed-up crosswalk is a joke

At the bottom of Levasseur Road, at the crossing of that new LeClair Way/Riel Drive they’ve managed to come up with a real joke.

At the bottom of Levasseur Road, at the crossing of that new LeClair Way/Riel Drive they’ve managed to come up with a real joke.

Construction is completed on the crosswalk and the slopes for the ramps, which are two inches too high for wheelchair-users, mind you. Whoever built it put the button to press the crosswalk light on a pole where there is a big deep mud hole underneath, about five metres away from the actual crosswalk.

Then they put up ‘no pedestrian crossing’ signs (just a picture of a pedestrian with a red line through, similar to the signs, ‘no dogs allowed’ or ‘no motor vehicles allowed here’) up on either side of the road right where the actual crosswalk is.

Everybody really laughs about that one. It’s perfect for any good comic strip. A St. Albert planning department brainchild no doubt, which would say, ‘We built a cross walk here, but you are definitely, absolutely not allowed to walk here.’
