I must say that I found both the tone and content of Jordan Walters’ letter regarding the RCMP in Wednesday’s edition of the St. Albert Gazette to be most disagreeable.
Furthermore, his over-generalized insinuation that the RCMP (and EPS) are little more than a bunch of rough-and-ready, gun-wielding bullies who use force first and ask questions later is extremely misleading and more than a little ridiculous. Although Walters felt it necessary to imply that all members of Generation X hold the RCMP in low esteem, I beg to differ.
As a member of Generation X, I will continue to abstain from lumping together RCMP officers and members from other police services as a group of untrustworthy conspirators. Instead, to the thousands of brave police officers across the country who put their lives on the line on a daily basis to serve and protect the residents of Canada, I say thank you. May I suggest that others consider doing the same?
