Private property rights would solve park and ride problem

I'm not going be exchanging Christmas cards with Mike Mazepa of the St. Albert Inn anytime soon, but I am angry at the latest unpunished assault on his individual rights.

A few years ago, the province took away his right to decide if he wanted to allow smoking in his establishment. This week, the employees and students of our school system are once again ignoring the private property signs at Village Landing and the Inn, parking in spots reserved for shoppers and hotel guests.

I don't think that public education has deteriorated to the point (yet) where its supporters can't read, but I do know that political science classes have long since abandoned the warning that without (protected) property rights, individual rights don't exist.
