Thank you for running my recent comments. I just have a wee bit more to say. Is this really the best country in the world to live in?
We have politicians who feel it is their rite of passage to take what they can get by enacting laws to enrich themselves and friends alike. I am quite surprised that we do not have over 30 million individuals in this country running for office as it’s quite lucrative over a very short period of time considering pension liabilities and wages while multi-billion dollar deficits are run up without consequence! Give them a raise for spending so much in all the wrong places! Shouldn’t they set some human-related priorities instead of corporate priorities?
We live in a country where it’s legal to kill your baby via abortion but one can get arrested for smoking a joint — something God put on this Earth for our use and we do not have to lift a finger to manufacture or modify in any way, shape or form, unlike alcohol. Yet liquor is quite legal, abundant and normal in everyday life, creating horrendous crimes while governments rake in millions. Legalize pot and watch crime and deficits crash (alcohol-related offences not included.) Prohibition on alcohol did not work, what makes politicians think it’s working on marijuana? We live in a country where one can get away with committing multi-million dollar thefts and where a legal product such as tobacco may solicit a fine if one is found smoking in a certain place or around certain people.
We live in a country where it’s more of a priority to build an $85-million arts building or a $400-million hockey arena yet we will not spend a few million for the homeless. Trust in this Edmontonians, Katz will not spend a dime unless he’s assured of making a buck, from you!
We live in a country where governments are telling us not to idle our cars for more than three minutes and demand we turn off our gas lawn mowers to save the environment, where an overabundant use of herbicides, pesticides and water are used on lawns and farmland for personal enjoyment or profit. Millions upon millions of planes fly to and fro, NASA and other government agencies around the world send rockets into space blowing holes in the stratosphere. We have planes, trains and automobiles spewing out noxious gases every single day for the almighty buck! All these hybrids, wind farms and so on contend they are better for the environment but has anyone figured out how much of the environment is harmed by manufacturing of the same? (Guess what? Coal has to be burned for these electric hybrids.) Yet these politicians tell us that we have to manage our resources. We do not have to manage the resources as these resources did quite fine for millions and millions of years on their own. No, we have to manage ourselves. You want my vote? I must see some real change before I get up off my couch to vote for anyone in this country as there is simply no one or no thing to vote on or for.
