Statues more tangible than food bank donation

I was one person who sent a letter to Mayor Nolan Crouse and St. Albert city councillors in support of the purchase of the sculptures. I presented the following reasons for their purchase. • I think that they are very reasonably priced.

I was one person who sent a letter to Mayor Nolan Crouse and St. Albert city councillors in support of the purchase of the sculptures. I presented the following reasons for their purchase.

• I think that they are very reasonably priced. Although I feel that our taxes are too high, the sculptures are something tangible for the money spent.

• They are works of beauty that reflect the Aboriginal heritage of our community.

• The City of St. Albert has several interesting sculptures and these will add to the ones already here. Whenever we have visitors, we take them to see the “hinge,” the boy with the dog caught under the bench, the sculpture of Lois Hole and the others along the river walk. This year, we took family members who were attending the Meyers family reunion for the river walk. The children really loved the aboriginal sculptures and had their pictures taken with the bear and the Mother.

• Art like these sculptures has a lasting permanence in our community. Donations to the food bank are not necessarily enjoyed by visitors and the community at large.

Like others who contacted St. Albert city council, I believe this purchase provides excellent value for the money spent.
