Stolen playhouse the final straw

What is going on in North Ridge? Three years ago, we moved from a very quiet, safe crescent in Pineview to the beautiful, family-friendly neighbourhood of North Ridge.

What is going on in North Ridge? Three years ago, we moved from a very quiet, safe crescent in Pineview to the beautiful, family-friendly neighbourhood of North Ridge.

Having a young and expanding family, we were excited to live around other families like ourselves, who have young children as well. We never expected to feel unsafe in our neighbourhood; however I can honestly tell you I have never felt so uneasy or unsafe as I do now. Since moving here, we have had our vehicles broken into countless times, the steering column in my husband’s destroyed while someone attempted to steal it, tools swiped from our garage while we were right next door and most recently, a playhouse removed from behind our house.

They can have my GPS, my CDs, my mp3 player and even my husband’s truck. But we are so heartbroken and so angry that someone has taken our playhouse. This was a handmade gift that was handed down to my two- and four-year-old children. It weighs at least 400 lbs. and is over 6 feet tall with cedar siding and a shingled roof. Being so large and heavy, it would be impossible for just one very strong man to move it alone.

I am tired of this happening so much and with summer arriving, I know it’s only going to get worse again. If someone has seen our playhouse, please get in touch with us. You can find our Facebook page (Northridge, St. Albert) or call us 780-886-0030. My kids would be so happy to see their new clubhouse come back to them.
