I really appreciate the courage of these women in coming forward, as well as the sensitivity of the reporter, Scott Hayes.
By speaking out about sexualized violence, these women have likely profoundly affected a large number of survivors who felt that they were alone. As was pointed out in this article, the rates of sexual assault/abuse are staggering, and unless more people talk about it, it will remain society's hidden secret.
I am reminded of a quote by Raymond Williams: "To be truly radical is to make hope possible rather than despair convincing." These women and this article provides hope to individuals, families and communities impacted by this crime.
Kudos to these amazing women and to the Gazette for publishing this important article!
