Lac La Biche resident issued $1,000 fine for New Year's party

CALGARY — Infectious disease experts say it makes sense for Alberta to stretch the amount of time between first and second doses beyond what's spelled out on the labels of the two approved COVID-19 vaccines.

Jenny Maier's grandmother lives at St. Albert Chartwell, and she said the 92-year-old "can hardly wait" to get the vaccine.

No charges have been laid

"She was kind of goofy and sarcastic a little bit, but sweet as a pie."

In October, council voted to not renew its contract with its integrity commissioner after concerns about whether investigations done in the past were valid and worth the money. Instead, city staff and council will determine whether an independent investigation against a councillor is necessary.

EDMONTON — Alberta Premier Jason Kenney says the province is ramping up and expanding COVID-19 vaccinations to inoculate paramedics and other emergency service workers.

On Monday, Premier Jason Kenney said the province's supply of the vaccine will run out a week from now, "unless we get a huge surprise shipment."
