Senior B Miners

The senior B St. Albert Miners can make it eight victories in a row with a winning performance tonight in Beaumont.

Game time is 8:30 p.m. against the Outlaws in the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League.

The Miners (7-1) haven’t lost a game since the 13-9 season opener against the host Outlaws (7-4) May 3.

The Miners wrapped up a game six-game homestand in Friday’s 11-9 outcome against the Edmonton Warriors (3-8) at Go Auto Arena.

Matt Kristiansen’s second goal of the night broke a 9-9 deadlock with 2:54 to play.

The Warriors led 5-4 after the first period and 7-6 halfway through the middle frame before Darren Kinnear connected on the power play before the period ended.

The Warriors struck twice with the man advantage in the third.

Graedon Cornfield’s four goals, including three in the last period, and six assists led all scorers.

Kinnear finished with a pair while Randy Hanger, Ryan Davis and Richard Lachlan also scored.

Lachlan added five assists and Kristiansen had four helpers.

Lachlan is third in RMLL scoring with 21 goals and 41 points.

The President’s Cup national champions the last three years are 94-5-2 overall since losing the 2015 RMLL provincial final.

This weekend the Miners travel to play the Rockyview Knights (6-4) at 5 p.m. Saturday in Airdrie and the Calgary Mountaineers (6-4) at 3 p.m. Sunday at Stu Peppard Arena.

Junior A Miners

A six-game winless streak ended Sunday for the junior A St. Albert Miners in the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League.

Braedan Duckworth’s six goals and three by Skyler Wilson propelled the Miners (4-7) past the Calgary Raiders 15-8 at Go Auto Arena.

The Miners trailed 4-2 after the first before out-scoring the Raiders 6-5 in the second and 7-1 in the third.

Jacob Power, Bennet Smith, Maurice Kelly, John Killcommons, Dallyn Rai and Ethan Forgrave notched singles.

Roman Smoot chipped in with five assists while Duckwoth finished with eight points and Wilson had seven.

The night before in St. Albert, the Miners lost 10-9 in overtime to the Raiders (4-4) after Rai’s third goal of the game tied it at nine with 43 seconds left in regulation time.

Wilson with a pair and singles by Jaydan Green, Maurice Kelly, Killcommons and Forgrave contributed offensively.

Forgrave leads the Miners in scoring with 14 goals and 32 points and Duckworth is second with 12 goals and 25 points.

The next game is June 28 against the Raiders at 8 p.m. at Akinsdale Arena.

Junior B Crude

The St. Albert Crude are winners of six in a row and eight of the last nine games as the No. 2 junior B Tier I team in the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League.

The latest triumph was 13-6 over the Calgary Chill (7-4-1) Saturday at Akinsdale Arena.

The north division Crude (10-3) ranks second to the Calgary Shamrocks (12-1) of the south division in total points among the 15 RMLL teams.

Guerin Nollski pumped in four goals and Jorden McCuaig’s posted three goals and three assists against the south division Chill.

Brock McIntyre slotted a pair and Jack Rainault, Jackson Ganton, Mathieu Gautier and Keegan Doll also scored.

McIntyre collected six assists, Gautier added three helpers and netminder Kyle Schmidt drew two assists while stopping 39 shots.

McIntyre is the top RMLL scorer with 78 points and is tied for second in goals with 34.

Gautier is third in points with 55 and Nollski is fifth 40, in addition to his league-high 14 power-play goals.

Nollski and Gautier have tallied 25 and 28 goals, respectively.

Saturday the Crude hosts the Rockyview Silvertips (9-3) of Cochrane, the top central division team, at 5 p.m. at Akinsdale Arena and Sunday’s game time against the north division Outlaws (2-11) is 4 p.m. in Sherwood Park.
